  "The Shorties" - April, 2006    
 
"The Shorties are a first grade team put together with individual forms to make a team. This team did not even know the cycle when we started having morning practice, but with patience and determination on there part they learned it. They not only learned it, they got fast. They participated in the Pueblo Sport Stacking Tournament and won by a long shot. They were not only faster, but they did not make many mistakes. I was so proud of them being so young and accomplishing so much.  


The Shorties, along with their coach Cameron Phillips, pose for their team picture at the 2006 WSSA World Sport Stacking Championhips in Denver.

     
It was then off to practice for the World Championships in Denver. They practiced every day to get better. They practiced even the doubles and had the world record for a short time during the tournament. These four teammates went to Denver and made everyone so proud here at Beulah Heights. They won thirteen medals in all and finished second in the cycle timed relay and second in the 2nd in the 3-6-3 relay. Daniel Trujillo even finished 2nd in the cycle in the world for 7 and under. I am the proudest P.E. teacher in the whole world. :) This experience will last these young children a lifetime of good memories. There confidence is so high and they are looked at as stars in our school. Way to go SHORTIES!!!"
