The RCC selects the StackMat™ and Tournament Display as the official timing device at their World Competition in Toronto.

New Rubik's Cube record - 11.13 seconds

Leyan Lo, a 20-year-old California Institute of Technology student set a new world record for solving the Rubik's Cube puzzle, turning the tiled brain-twister from scrambled to solved in 11.13 seconds.

A Salute to Erno Rubik!

Rubik, inventor of the Rubik's Cube was born on July 13th, 1944 in Hungary.

Rubik said he got the idea for the "Cube" in 1974 and began industrial production in 1977.

25 years later, in 2003, the Cube was paired with the StackMat as the timing device.

Melding Rubik's Cube with the StackMat -
The World Competition for Rubiks, held on August 23-24, 2003 in Toronto at the Ontario Science Centre drew top speedcubers from 20 countries who participated in the competitive event amid widespread international media attention.

For the first time, the Speed Stacks' StackMat™ was the official timing mechanism for tournament play.

The Rubiks Championship Committee states, "Using the StackMat™ and Tournament Display added complete fairness of the start and finish."
