Demolition at Stack City
Equipment:
A set of Speed Stacks (one or more per stacker). music.
Set-up:
Place the stackers in a Random pattern in the movement area. Divide the movement area in half with equal numbers of 3, 6, and 10 stacks on both sides. All should be in the up-stack position.
Procedure:
Divide the stackers into two equal teams. Have each team select a demotion crew and a construction crew within their team. Have the teams line up on their designated sides of the movement area. The Speeds Stacks inside the movement area represent buildings in a city. Start the music and have all the stackers to a locomotor movement (walking, skipping, jogging, hopping, etc.) around the outside of the movement area. When the music stops, "demolition" occurs.
Teams try to down stack as many sets on the opposing team's side as they possibly can while their construction crew keeps sets on their side in the up stack position.
On the instructor's "stop" signal, all the stackers will pause with their hands up. The music resumes and all the stackers move around the outside of the play area until the music stops and the "demolition" occurs again. See which team has the most buildings (up stacks) on their side.
